Our Environmental commitment

Sustainability isn't just a buzzword at Dance for the Planet — it's fundamental to everything we do. Our entire concept exists to prove that celebration and conservation can go hand in hand. We're committed to not just minimizing our negative impact, but actively creating positive change through our events and community actions.

Leave no trace

We adhere to all seven Leave No Trace principles in our operations, and we go beyond them with what we call our "Leave No Trace+" approach:

  • We thoroughly research all locations, secure proper permissions, and prepare our team and participants for minimal-impact experiences.

  • We carefully select dance areas on durable surfaces and create clear boundaries to protect sensitive vegetation.

  • We operate with a strict pack-in, pack-out policy and conduct thorough site scans before departure.

  • We respect natural and cultural features, leaving them undisturbed for others to enjoy.

  • We never use open flames at our events, eliminating fire risks completely.

  • We research wildlife patterns before selecting locations and time our events to minimize disturbance.

  • We maintain appropriate sound levels and ensure our activities don't negatively impact other recreational users.

  • At every event, we conduct a brief stewardship activity, such as trail maintenance or litter removal, leaving locations better than we found them.

Monitoring

Impact Monitoring

We photograph sites before and after events to document our impact and continually improve our practices.

We believe in supporting the organizations doing critical conservation work in our event locations. For each Summit Session, we identify a local environmental organization to support through optional donations and volunteer opportunities.
