Summit sessions: Dance Music Reimagined

Summit Sessions are intimate, low-impact dance experiences held in stunning natural locations. Each session follows a simple format:

HIKE: We gather at a trailhead and journey together to a beautiful destination—a mountain summit, forest clearing, or lakeside vista.

DANCE: Upon arrival, we set up a small, solar-powered sound system. A featured DJ plays a set specifically designed for the natural environment.

CONNECT: We dance, connect, and celebrate together in nature—creating a unique experience that honors both the music and the location.

Preserve: We ensure the location is left better than we found it, with zero impact on the natural environment.

Each Summit Session is free to attend, with optional donations supporting our continued operations and environmental initiatives.

Choosing our locations

Modern wooden house with stone steps, surrounded by grassy landscape and mountains in the background.

We carefully select each Summit Session location based on several criteria:

- Natural Beauty: Spaces that inspire awe and connection

- Accessibility: Locations reachable by participants of varying abilities

- Environmental Sensitivity: Areas that can sustain our presence without negative impact

- Land Manager Relationships: Places where we've established positive partnerships

- Community Relevance: Locations that hold meaning for our local community

We work closely with land managers, conservation organizations, and local experts to ensure our presence is appropriate and beneficial for each location we visit.

What to Expect

  • Summit Sessions are intentionally intimate. Our events typically host between 20-50 participants, depending on the location's capacity and sensitivity. This allows us to minimize our environmental impact while maximizing the quality of the experience.

  • Our featured artists play a range of electronic music styles, with selections tailored to complement the natural setting. Sets often evolve with the landscape—ambient and downtempo sounds during sunset transitions, more energetic rhythms during peak moments. All music is played at a volume that allows conversation and appreciation of natural sounds.

  • A typical Summit Session lasts 3-5 hours, including hiking time. The dance portion usually runs 2-3 hours, often timed around sunset or another natural phenomenon. We always finish with plenty of time for a safe return to the trailhead before dark.

  • Participants should come prepared for both hiking and dancing:

    - Appropriate footwear and clothing for the terrain

    - Water and snacks

    - Weather protection (sun hat, rain jacket, layers, etc.)

    - Your positive energy and respect for nature!

  • Yes! We work directly with land managers to secure all necessary permits and permissions for our events. We follow all regulations regarding group sizes, amplified sound, and resource protection. We believe in working within the system to create sustainable experiences that benefit everyone.
